Barbara Dieu :: Weblog :: Brainstorming

August 24, 2006

Yesterday at school I was thinking that the kids could prepare an interactive game of their own country and places for their colleagues in other countries. They could use maps, sound, tags and photographs licensed CC in Flickr (maybe 43Places as well). Any ideas on how we could put this into practice?

Keywords: countries, games, photos, social networking tools

  1. A series of HTML pages stacked in a multiple choice format with only one of the choices routing to the map/sound clp/whatever could be built with relative ease by the students.

Have you thought about using presentation software such as OpenOffice Impress or PowerPoint as the tool and then exporting their results to HTML?

  2. Way too heavy I think. I would like something more interactive and web based.

  3. Bee . looking back into the posts and getting to this post, I love the idea. But with the new post by Paul on the map we are trying at community walks, we can accomplish what you are suggesting. We need to continue to define our plans and add the "game" aspect as well as our plans to include or house the whole idea into a large "writing project". I think we are on our way. Lets remember to include this idea of a game type activity. We can always use the "webquest" idea but a 21st century version of it!

  4. Hi Barbara,

You may want to see what Jean-Claude Bradley form Drexel is doing at EduFrag. They use the Unreal Tournament game "shell" to engage students in the classroom. It's pretty cool stuff. Good luck!

  5. Thanks Linda. A bit too complex for me but looks definitely exciting.
