Beth Ritter-Guth :: Weblog :: College English Students Are Amazing

September 27, 2006

http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/Proftitutes/~3/81572138/college-engl Today was a really productive day. The students in my Honors College English 1 class exploded mentos and diet coke to demonstrate the writing process. We were going for distance. Our chem professor donated goggles. It was a lot of fun.

We then went to CVS to buy supplies for our Sierra Leoneon misionaries, Tom and Vicki Hicks. They are coming to class on Thursday all the way from Kentucky to teach my students about the realities of malaria in Sierra Leone. They are collecting Tylenol, Motrin, Cold and Flu Meds, Immodium, Sanitary pads, and children's medicines.

These students amaze me with what they decided to buy. One group bought Pedialite; another group bought vitamins.

So, what does this all have to do with learning to write? The best writers are the ones who care about the world they write in :-)
