Mapping :: Weblog :: Map Builder: A collaborative mapping tool

August 10, 2006

Here's an example of a project that I started with students, and never finished last semester: \"MyMaps

Map Builder is a tool worth our consideration. I've set up another collaborative map about vacations. You need to be registered at Map Builder, then I can add your username into the list of users for that map.  So please register, and list your username in the discussion below.

Problem is I don't see how to make journies easily on this mashup.

Thanks!  Also I really like the 43 Places possibilities.

  3. My username on MapBuilder is ccsloanj.  I like the fact that the media plays when the window opens in MapBuilder (like the students reciting the poetry while the text of the poem shows).  I put links in Quikmaps, but can Quikmaps also play audio as the window opens?

  8. Mapbuilder takes a bit of getting used to, but I think it is the most open to adding multimedia in a collaborative way. The few things that you have to get "right" could be explained. It takes some getting used to, but I don't find it all that difficult to use, once you learn a couple of it's secrets. I'll try to make a list of these later today.

  9. Looking forward to learning how to add multimedia to map builder. I am preparing my kids for the NZ trip and would like them to use the mapping system to post their own pics and comments so other kids can react to it.
